Providence Row works with more than a thousand homeless and vulnerably housed people a year in East London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice, substance use & alcohol support and employment and training advice. Our aim is to ensure that people who are so often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets. This acclaimed project between Providence Row and The Royal London Hospital prevents patients from being discharged from hospital back onto the street, into insecure housing or a situation whereby the patient may be at significant risk. It also improves the health and wellbeing of homeless people in East London, leading to reduced instances of mental-ill health, poor physical health and repeat unplanned hospital admissions.
The ideal candidate
Passionate about providing quality support and advice to some of the most vulnerable and excluded people who have been identified as becoming homeless prior to discharge from hospital. You will have the drive and ambition to support your team to make positive lasting changes in people’s lives.
With experience of working with persons facing the challenges of homelessness, and a strong understanding of how other factors such as rough sleeping, mental health and substance use issues affect their health and wellbeing, you will live out our values in your approach to your work. You will have experience and/or understanding of supporting vulnerable clients into accommodation through statutory and non-statutory pathways and an understanding of Homeless Reduction Act (HRA).
