World Homeless Day is recognised every year on 10th October uniting people around the world to tackle the homeless crisis.
Starting on World Homeless Day Providence Row are running a dedicated week of action from 10th – 17th October. The week focuses on raising awareness of the current homeless crisis and raising funds to support Providence Row’s work. Our theme this year is ‘Safe Space’, as we pride ourselves in providing a safe space for people experiencing homelessness, free of judgement, with access to services run by staff who care.
Due to the cost of living crisis, homelessness is on the increase. The latest report by the CHAIN Homeless Database shows that a total of 10,053 people were recorded sleeping rough in London in 2022/23; a 21% increase on the previous year. In our local borough of Tower Hamlets this increase was 55%.
We have seen our client numbers increase by 20% in the last few months and we expect to welcome more and more clients to our safe space as the weather gets colder.
To allow us to support those who so desperately need it, we need your help! We need you to take action, raise funds and raise awareness with us.
