Refugees put at risk of homelessness by 7 day 'move on' notices - call to action
Government asked to review practice due to negative impact on refugees' health and welfare.
Providence Row has joined with other leading homelessness and health organisations to highlight the negative impact on new refugees of being given 7 day notices to leave asylum accommodation.
An urgent letter has been sent to the Home Secretary listing deep concerns around the changes to Home Office practice and listing the negative effects on rough sleeping and homelessness.
It calls on the Home Secretary to restore the previous standard of being issued with a 28 day notice to quit accommodation and to stop all evictions during very low temperatures to avoid loss of life.
