Congratulations to our Peer Mentor Junaid | Providence Row

Congratulations to Junaid, one of our Peer Mentors, for achieving first place in the Recovery Street Film Festival.

This is a prestigious documentary competition which aims to empower people affected by addiction through the medium of film and storytelling.

In the documentary, Junaid chronicles his own inspiring story of the ‘ups and downs’ of recovery. His film profoundly captures the sheer determination, fortitude and commitment that is required to start life on a new path.

The candour in which Junaid recounts his journey is so moving and empowering. We applaud him for his bravery and are so grateful to have Junaid as a Peer Mentor.

Our Peer Mentors are individuals who have lived experience of homelessness, substance use and recovery and/or mental health issues. Our Peer Mentor Programme seeks to help our clients to take control of their recovery and support them to make positive changes.

For many of our clients who are entering the beginning of their recovery journey, being able to talk to someone like Junaid is pivotal. Sometimes, it’s so hard to believe or want to believe that recovery is possible. Junaid is living proof that it can work and why Peer Mentors are so important.

Thank you for sharing your story, Junaid. Thank you for showing others that they aren't alone in their journey and inspiring them to make changes to their lives. Seeing and speaking to someone who offers unconditional  support and respect can be a crucial step on the road to recovery.

Junaid, we are thrilled for you and we are so proud of you.
