Homelessness charity Providence Row will be opening their gate on Saturday 1 July (6 – 9pm) to share an exhibition of beautiful and innovative work by their art group, a creative group for people affected by homelessness.
Art tutor Chris Bardo said: “We have some exceptional artists here at Providence Row and they have worked very hard to produce this wonderful exhibition. We can’t wait to welcome the general public to see this amazing work and find out more about the work of the charity.”
Artist Zyron said “I’ve done a piece called ‘Angel’ and I’m going to display it along my other pieces at the exhibition. I’ve always drawn but life, family, school and jobs have bashed it out of me over time, but Providence Row has inspired me to get involved with art again and I’ve met lots of other great artists here too. It helps me stay off the drugs and the drink. I’m getting a portfolio together and building a future as an artist.”
Guests will also be able to enjoy mocktails and brownies produced by trainees from their accredited bakery trainee scheme and social enterprise Rise Bakery. Special edition brownie boxes decorated by our Art Group will also be available to buy on the night.
The Art E1 exhibition is part of wider East London festival Art Night 2017. Art Night 2017 will see London’s East End transformed with free art and music by some of the world’s leading artists for the night of Saturday 1 July 2017. Audiences will be able to experience a trail of art, architecture, dance, design and music throughout the night. Art Night 2017 is in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery and curated by independent curator and writer Fatoş Üstek. The festival is generously supported by international auction house Phillips.
